Free ADHD Test for Adults

6-question ADHD symptom checker for adults

"*" indicates required fields

This field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged.

Start

To complete the ADHD symptom checker you will need to answer each of the following 6 questions based on how you have felt and conducted yourself over the past 6 months.

There are no right or wrong answers. At the end you will be given a result that will either suggest that ADHD is something that is worth being assessed for if your score is high enough OR, if your score is low, it is unlikely that you would fulfil the criteria for a diagnosis of ADHD.

Please note, this questionnaire is not diagnostic or a replacement for an in-person assessment. It is for initial consideration.

Signs and Symptoms of Adult ADHD

Adult ADHD can affect concentration, organisation, memory, time management and emotional regulation. Some adults have experienced these difficulties since childhood but may not have recognised them as possible signs of ADHD.

Common symptoms can include finding it hard to stay focused, struggling to complete tasks, frequently losing or forgetting things, feeling restless, interrupting others, or becoming overwhelmed by everyday responsibilities. These challenges can affect work, relationships, study, home life and general wellbeing.

If you are looking for an ADHD test for adults free online, it may be because these symptoms feel familiar. An online ADHD screening test can help you reflect on your experiences and decide whether to speak to your GP about a formal adult ADHD assessment.

Using Our Online ADHD Self-Assessment

The free ADHD test on this page is designed as an initial self-assessment for adults who want to better understand their symptoms. It asks about behaviours commonly linked with adult ADHD, including attention, organisation, restlessness, impulsivity and task completion.

This type of online ADHD test is not a diagnosis. It is a screening tool that can help indicate whether your symptoms may be consistent with ADHD and whether further assessment may be appropriate.

If your answers suggest that ADHD may be likely, the next step is to speak to your GP. Patients in England may be able to ask for an NHS ADHD assessment through the Right to Choose pathway, depending on eligibility and GP referral.

Accessing ADHD Assessment Through NHS Right to Choose

NHS Right to Choose allows eligible patients in England to ask their GP to refer them to an approved provider for adult ADHD assessment and treatment. This can provide an alternative route where local NHS waiting times are long, or where patients are looking for a more structured referral pathway.

Harrow Health works with patients and GP practices to make this process as clear as possible. Patients can download the relevant referral information, take it to their GP and request a referral through the NHS Right to Choose pathway.

The referral must come from your GP. Once accepted, Harrow Health will guide you through the next steps, including onboarding, assessment preparation and appointment arrangements.

Understanding Your ADHD Test Results

Your ADHD test result should be used as a guide, not as a clinical conclusion. A higher score may suggest that your symptoms are worth discussing with your GP, especially if they have been present for a long time and affect different areas of your life.

A lower score does not necessarily mean that you should ignore ongoing concerns. Difficulties with focus, memory, organisation or emotional regulation can have different causes, and your GP can help you decide what support or assessment may be appropriate.

If your result suggests that ADHD could be possible, you may wish to download the Right to Choose letter and use it to start a conversation with your GP about an NHS ADHD referral.

NHS ADHD Assessment Through Right to Choose

NHS Right to Choose allows eligible patients in England to ask their GP to refer them to an approved provider for adult ADHD assessment and treatment. This can be a helpful option for adults who are concerned about ADHD symptoms and want to understand whether they may meet the criteria for diagnosis.

Harrow Health is an accredited provider of adult ADHD assessment and treatment under the NHS Right to Choose pathway. If your GP agrees that referral is appropriate, they can refer you to Harrow Health for an NHS ADHD assessment.

A free ADHD test can be a useful starting point, but a formal assessment is needed to confirm whether you have ADHD. This assessment will look in more detail at your symptoms, history, day-to-day difficulties and the impact ADHD may be having on your life.

What Happens After an ADHD Screening Test

After completing an ADHD screening test, the next step is to consider whether your symptoms are affecting your daily life enough to discuss them with your GP. You may find it helpful to keep a note of your result and write down examples of the difficulties you experience at work, at home or in relationships.

If you want to request an NHS ADHD referral through Right to Choose, your GP will need to make the referral. Harrow Health cannot accept self-referrals directly from patients.

Once your GP referral has been received and accepted, Harrow Health will guide you through the next stages. This may include onboarding, pre-assessment forms, an appointment for adult ADHD assessment and, where clinically appropriate, treatment planning and ongoing support.
